Many people want to travel cheaply. A man from Klagenfurt traveled for seventeen days through six European countries. He booked four cheap flights and two bus transfers. Here he reveals tips for traveling the world cheaply.
Airline ticket prices are still rising despite low-cost airlines. Those who book earlier usually get cheaper prices on the travel fair. “The tickets can be purchased 330 days before the start of the trip,” says Ingo Hitzenhammer of “Hitriise”. “You can book cheaper in winter than in summer. And the luggage makes it even more difficult,” says Hitzenhammer. It is cheaper to fly without luggage. Skyscanner has long helped you find cheaper tickets. Long-haul flights are often included. Even as a travel professional these days you have to spend around 100 euros on luggage for a cheap plane ticket.
But of course there are many people who travel much cheaper, not only among globetrotters. “But you need a lot of time when looking for airline tickets and planning your trip,” says Markus K from Klagenfurt. He traveled through half of Europe for little money (see graph below).
