The deadline for tabling amendments to the entire budget project of the Basque government expires at 12:00 EH Bildu has announced that it will register only partial changes to continue negotiations with the PNV-PSE governing coalition led by Lehendakari Imanol Pradales.

In an interview with Euskadi Irratia, EH Bildu’s spokesperson in the Basque Parliament, Otxandiano hairhas stated that “there is time” to continue negotiations until the second or third week of December. In this sense, he pointed out that “in some areas our positions have become closer, and there are other issues where there is still a great distance.”

The shelter It is together with the (Interprofessional Minimum Wage) SMI Basque, the two issues that EH Bildu considers priorities in the budget negotiations with the Basque government, after putting aside issues related to taxes and healthcare. In any case, Otxandiano has said that in the housing proposal there is a point related to taxation, namely the application of tax credits to those who decide to rent their homes below the reference price index, and penalties for those who do so above. However, EH Bildu would be willing to remove this point from the negotiations in an attempt to reach an agreement.

He has stated that in terms of shelter The Basque government has put on the table amounts of 24 million euros, an “insufficient” amount according to Otxandiano, who has insisted that policies in this area need deep and “courageous” changes, including having a park that stood out housing, limit the number of tourist flats and mobilize empty homes.

As for the Basque SMIOtxandiano has acknowledged that positions have gotten closer, even though nothing has been closed.

The Deputy Lehendakari and Minister of Economy, Labor and Employment of the Basque Government, Mikel Torres, for his part, believes that “an agreement with EH Bildu on the Basque budgets for 2025 could be very close” and has warned that, if If this is not the case, the sovereigntist formation would ‘disappoint’ its electorate.

The two parties that make up the Basque government – PNV and PSE-EE – have sufficient majorities in the Basque parliament to implement the 2025 budget project, although they have chosen to seek the support of opposition parties. After both the PP and Sumar withdrew from the negotiations, the Basque government continued negotiations with EH Bildu.
