A fire broke out at the Jennersdorf district heating plant in Burgenland on Saturday. The stored wood chips catch fire for an initially unknown reason. At around 1:00 PM, alarm level “B3” was activated and six FFs were deployed.
“There was a lot of smoke,” operations manager Franz Kropf, district commander and new commander of the Burgenland state fire brigade from July, told the APA. The fire was extinguished with respiratory protection. A rescue platform was also used.
The flames had also spread to the intermediate ceiling and the roof and facade had to be opened. As a result, the fire was under control and under control. In addition, the wood chips had to be removed from the hall and extinguished.
Two helpers injured
The extinguishing work was difficult, but it was possible to prevent the flames from spreading to other parts of the building. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries. The extent of the damage was initially unknown.
