In the Tyrolean lowlands – two days before the sheep was mauled, Bär fell into a photo trap

Date:

Not only wolves, but also bears roam more and more in Tyrol. On Corpus Christi Day in mid-June, a sheep was killed in the Tyrolean Unterland. A bear has now been identified as the cause. Just two days earlier, one of them had fallen into a photo trap in this area.

The photo (above) was taken by hunter Alexander Rohm’s game camera on June 14 at exactly 6:21 PM in Langkampfen (Kufstein district). Two days later—that is, on Corpus Christi—there was a sheep tear in the municipal area.

“The photo was then taken only about 300 to 400 meters from the point of the crack,” the owner of the wildlife camera told the “Krone”.

At first no concrete suspicion
Thanks to DNA analysis, we now know that a bear was responsible for the animal’s death. Although – as the country recently explained – there was initially no concrete suspicion, this was confirmed by genetic analysis.
