The Viennese public prosecutor’s office has a total of eighteen suspects in the case of the abused twelve-year-olds in Vienna-Favoriten, and charges are pending against two of them. A 16-year-old Syrian must appear in court on Thursday. The mother of the young victim spoke to the Crowns about the stressful trial dates and her lack of understanding about an expert report.
What Katharina K. experiences in the Viennese countryside can hardly be put into words: “It is very stressful. When the perpetrator was called, a shiver ran down my spine. And when you see your own child being interrogated in the video,” the Viennese struggles with words. Two cases are currently being negotiated about how young people from Favoriten raped their then twelve-year-old daughter Anna in several attacks in the spring of 2023.
The girl had a panic attack
Anna is feeling particularly bad these days. According to her mother, the now 14-year-old recently had a panic attack at home: “She was standing in the kitchen and could barely breathe. We had to call the rescue service,” says Mrs. K. worriedly. “Now that brings everything back into her.”
It is unbelievable what the young person has to deal with: as the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed to the “Krone”, in the disturbing case – in addition to the two charges – proceedings are underway against another 14 (!) acquaintances and two unknown boys for rape and serious sexual abuse of minors. The presumption of innocence applies.
There’s one sentence the mother can’t get out of her head
Mrs. K. is also concerned that the court expert has not determined that her daughter has post-traumatic stress disorder. When she picked Anna up from the interview, the expert reportedly said to her: “Make sure you don’t enter such circles again.”
A sentence that Anna’s mother can no longer get out of her head: “She left a mark on her and made her feel guilty.” Victim advocate Sascha Flatz criticizes the reading of the private report by psychiatrist Patrick Frottier. was rejected by the court. Frottier testifies that the student has “complex post-traumatic stress disorder.”
The first trial was postponed and on Thursday a Syrian (16) must answer for rape and sexual assault. Anna’s mother will be there. About the ‘crown’ she says: ‘We tried to hide it over the weekend and made an Advent wreath.’
Friends of the family have opened a donation account for the young victim under “Donate Anna”, IBAN: AT04 3227 5000 0031 3692.
