The industrial elaboration fell by 0.9 % in 2024, but with this year 2025 the Basque government hopes that the sector will take effect and 1.4 % will grow, according to its latest macro -economic predictions.
The production of the Basque industry fell by 0.9 % last year compared to that of the previous year, which confirmed the bad trend for seven months of 2024.
This descent is the First that happens in the last ten yearsWith the exception of the collapse of industrial activity in 2020, the result of the restrictions imposed as a result of the pandemic, when it fell by 13 %.
In 2023, the growth of industrial activity in Euskadi was already very moderate, of 0.5 %, after the recovery of 2021 (+10 %) and, to a lesser extent, from 2022 (+4.2 %).
According to its last December estimates from last year, the Basque government expected that the industrial and energy sector in 2024 in the autonomous community grew by 0.8 %, so that the data made public today is bad.
In the past year, the territory in which the sector behaved was Dálava, an pre -eminently industrial province, with a decrease of 2.5 %. In Bizkaia the decrease was 0.5 % and in Gipuzkoa of 0.4 %.
The Negative evolution of industry Basque in 2024 was mainly due to the vehicles and locomotives of “sustainable consumer goods”, and aviation and navy construction. The accumulated decreases of these two subsectors were 3 % and 1.1 % respectively.
The “non -durable consumer” (food, cleaning, pharmacy and clothing) dropped 0.3 % compared to 2023, so that the “consumer goods” as a whole fell as the average of the sector as a whole, 0.9 %.
In the “intermediary goods” (metallurgy, chemistry, rubber and plastic), accumulated production was half a point less than that of 2023, while production in “Energy” had a collected growth of 0.8 %.
With this year 2025, the Basque government is expected to take strength and 1.4 %will grow, according to its last macro -economic predictions.
