Major operation Wednesday evening at the Brenner Pass: after a bomb threat on the South Tyrolean side, rail and road connections across the state border were closed. In the evening a major operation took place.
The emergency message was received shortly before 7 p.m. According to initial information, everyone in the station was evacuated due to a bomb threat. There were about 300 people on one train. “We have distributed these over several halls and the civil defense is now providing them with food and hot drinks,” Martin Alber, mayor of the municipality of Brenner, told RAI-Südtirol.
Train was searched
A special police unit searched the stricken train. “All travelers’ luggage must be checked,” fire inspector Norbert Troyer emphasized.
