The Israeli army attacked two border crossings between Lebanon and Syria on Friday evening.
The projectiles hit Syrian soil shortly after the border. An Israeli army spokesman reported an attack on weapons transport centers and infrastructure near the border.
These are the border crossings of Arida in the north and Jousieh in the east of Lebanon. Both are important access routes for the Syrian province of Homs.
There, Islamic rebels are preparing to advance south towards Homs after their lightning offensive in northwestern Syria.
Supply routes for the radical Hezbollah militia in Lebanon also run through Syria. In the fight against Hezbollah, Israel repeatedly attacks targets in Syria from the air.
