The communist-led city council of Graz has often been criticized by the state government – this could be even more the case in the future. In an interview, KPÖ mayor Elke Kahr talks about the congratulations to Mario Kunasek, a wall in front of the town hall and why it sometimes feels like a zoo.
“Kron”: Ms Kahr, what expectations do you have of the future state government, consisting of the FPÖ and ÖVP?
Every Kahr: I fear that the interests of working people will not be central and that humanity will be lost, especially in language. I may be wrong, but there are statements that make me think, something about cutting back on social benefits. People often make decisions behind their desks, having no idea of the reality outside of them. You only know how people are doing when you interact with them.
