Little Martina from Illmitz (Burgenland) survived thanks to quick air assistance. The air rescuers from Frauenkirchen will take off from January 9.
The fact that baby Martina can celebrate Christmas at home is thanks to the rescuers of Christophorus 18. The emergency medical helicopter has been providing emergency medical care in the north of Burgenland since April. The half-year results shortly before the turn of the year are impressive. The C18 was deployed more than 1,000 times.
Tailored to the needs of the region
“This number means that the crews flew to people in health emergencies just as often, and every time it was about saving a life,” said Governor Hans Peter Doskozil. The 1000th mission impressively underlines that the additional emergency medical helicopter allows us to respond optimally to the needs of the region, emphasizes Marco Trefanitz, director of the ÖAMTC air rescue.
This was also about the life of little Martina from Illmitz. Mother Julia and grandmother Melitta remember the terrible minutes: “Martina had an allergic reaction and suddenly became unconscious, she was in shock.”
The perfect rescue chain
Their thanks go to the employees of the State Security Center (LSZ) and the helpers of C18. “If the LSZ staff had not given us such clear and reassuring instructions and if the emergency doctor had not been there so quickly, I don’t know how we would have gotten through it. The crew was great,” Julia and Melitta Tschida agree.
In the case of saving the life of the young woman from Illmitz, the C18 departed from Wiener Neustadt. The intermediate location will soon be a thing of the past, because the new base in Frauenkirchen is almost completed.
C18 takes healthcare to a new level
The opening is scheduled for January 9. “This is a milestone in healthcare in Northern Burgenland, which will once again be taken to the next level,” said the state governor, who took the opportunity to wish little Martina and her family a wonderful Christmas.
