Generational conversation – What young people can learn from seniors

Date:

Austrian society is getting older. There is often discussion about the disadvantages this entails, but less often it is about the wealth of knowledge and experience that our seniors bring with them. Krone+ wanted to know: what can young people actually learn from their elders?

It is rarely discussed what valuable things our 1.8 million seniors, that is, all people aged 60 and older, bring to our society. The discussion is rather about the aging of the population, which has also been observed in Austria for years, and all the problems that come with it. Feared challenges include the overturning of the social contract or the major increase in the need for health and nursing care. The 60+ age group already makes up 19.8 percent of the total population, and more than 82,000 people are over 90 years old.
