Staff at the bus company Avanza, formerly Pesa, have decided by majority to continue the strike schedule for this weekend after rejecting the latest management proposal which they considered “insufficient”, the ELA union reported.
“Instead of reaching an agreement, the company’s latest approach has been rejected by 64% of the workforce, leading to expectations that mobilizations will increase from January,” the union said in a statement on Friday.
The most important claims related to salary increases that exceed the CPI; the reduction of annual and daily working hours; the mandatory nature of the reception contract, not only during the period of validity of this agreement, but for an indefinite period, and the improvement of the bus fleet.
The staff gathered at the Bilbao bus station on Friday and on Saturday at noon they will drive a caravan of cars around San Sebastián, mobilizations to which a demonstration in Arrasate will be added next Wednesday.
They call off the Ekialdebus strike
For its part, the strike at Ekialdebus, the company that provides intercity transport in the Guipuzco regions of Oarsoaldea and Bidasoaldeascheduled for December 21, 22, 24, 25, 31 and January 1, has been canceled after the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council accepted a number of union demands.
LAB said in a statement on Friday that the requests were granted following several meetings that took place in recent days between Ekialdebus and the regional institution Gipuzkoa.
Extending journey times, increasing the number of buses and frequencies, as well as reinforcements, are some of the improvements achieved, LAB highlights, which believes this could ease the workload.
