Shortly before Christmas, a terrible accident occurred during a school trip to Katschberg. An eleven-year-old from Klagenfurt jumped on an uninflated mat in a trampoline hall – both heel bones were shattered. His mother is now making serious accusations.
“My son has been in a wheelchair for at least six weeks now – there is no guarantee of recovery, there can obviously be consequential damage because everything is so broken. The heels have to be completely redesigned,” says the shocked mother in an interview with the “Krone”.
With both feet directly on concrete
Her son was taking a ski course with school when the accident occurred. As twice before, students from a secondary school in Klagenfurt visited a trampoline hall next to the hotel. “During the previous visits everything was fine,” says Mrs. P., but the fact that a “fatal mistake” happened that day confuses the mother: “The teacher visited the room with the students, the children took off their took off shoes and started running. My son was the first on stage. He jumped from four and a half meters onto the mat – but it was not inflated. My son landed with his feet right on the concrete.”
“Teacher is not a doctor”
According to the mother, the following scenes may have happened afterwards: “The teacher carried my son out of the hallway to the couch because he couldn’t move his feet. Then he called me. When I asked what happened, the teacher said he wasn’t a doctor either. I just had to pick up my son. You have to imagine that two and a half hours to Katschberg to pick up my seriously injured child. Only then was the rescue service finally called,” says Mrs. P. in bewilderment.
When the ambulance finally arrived, the helicopter had to be called in, which flew the seriously injured boy to the ELKI in Klagenfurt. “He is currently undergoing surgery,” the mother told “Krone” on December 23. “What is especially important to me is that such a serious accident and such abuses do not happen again. It’s a horror!”
The St. Michael im Lungau police station is currently investigating the accident.
