Shortly after 1 p.m., a hiker discovered about 50 dead trout and char in a pond in the Fügen Romantic Park and immediately alerted the police.
“The cause of the fish kill has not yet been determined. Confiscated water and fish samples were sent to a lab for evaluation and clarification of the cause,” the director said.
Live animals fished from the pond
To be on the safe side, live fish were also taken from the pond. These too are now being examined and compared with the samples of the deceased animals. According to the current status, there is in any case no danger to the surrounding ecosystem, the police conclude.
