From January to November 2024, there were 0.7 percent more vehicles on Austrian motorways and highways than in the previous year. Asfinag has invested 1.6 billion euros in the road network this year and an annual profit of 763 million euros is expected. Toll revenues will amount to approximately 2.5 billion euros in 2024.
Heavy transport accounts for the lion’s share of tolls at 1.67 billion euros, while 607 million euros was collected for car vignettes. Revenues for the national highway authority have increased significantly as a result of fines for those who wanted to avoid the toll. They increased from 58 to 75 million euros. In total, Asfinag is expected to generate a turnover of 2.62 billion euros in 2024, after 2.59 billion euros in the previous year.
New routes on the S7 and S10
The most important nature conservation measures in 2025 include the Prater Hochstrasse in Vienna, the tunnel chain from Golling Towerfen and the Lueg Bridge in Tyrol. New construction includes the S7 Dobersdorf to Heiligenkreuz and the S10 Freistadt Nord to Rainbach Nord.
Inflation-related adjustment for route tolls
For some rates for vehicles with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons, an inflation-related adjustment will take place on Asfinag’s toll routes from January 1, 2025, as the company also announced. This is based on the harmonized consumer price index of recent years. For example, multi-trip tickets on the A9-Pyhrn motorway now cost 77.50 euros instead of the previous 71.50 euros.
On the A10 Tauernautobahn it is 87 euros (previously 81 euros), on the A13 Brennerautobahn it is 72 euros (previously 66 euros). Adjustments also apply to single trips. For example, on the A9 Gleinalm you will have to pay 11.50 euros in the future instead of the previous 10.50 euros.
