In China, the man who drove his car into a crowd and killed 35 people has been sentenced to death. The motive is that the 62-year-old decided to vent his anger over a broken marriage and personal frustrations by attacking innocent people with a car.
State television channel CCTV quoted the court as saying the suspect’s motives were “extremely despicable, the methods particularly cruel and the consequences particularly serious.” They represented “significant harm to society.”
The shooter pleaded guilty
The man pleaded guilty in front of some of the victims’ families and officials, the report said.
On November 11, the man rammed his small SUV into a group of people training in front of a sports center in the megacity of Zhuhai in the south of the country.
35 people were killed. The 62-year-old was arrested at the scene of a self-inflicted stab wound. It was the worst attack in China since 2014.
