Even days after the accident at Rosskopf in the Tyrolean Zillertal with two dead touring cars, the situation remains tense. The “Krone” has prepared some tips for all alpinists and examined the current avalanche situation.
As reported, a devastating accident on St. Stephen’s Day in Hippach claimed two lives: a resident (51) and his son (22) from the Zillertal. An avalanche broke out on the steep eastern side of the mountain, hitting the two touring cars and dragging them some 300 meters away. Despite a major search involving three local mountain rescue services, help came too late for the two buried victims. No signal from the avalanche transceiver (LVS) could be located on the men.
