Head coach (Jürgen Säumel) busy, technical director (Benjamin Schunk) busy – it was an eventful few days around Christmas for Sturm’s new sports director Michael Parensen. The German spoke to Krone+ about the rumors floating around in the transfer market and whether Sturm is in danger of being sold out soon.
“Kron”: Mr. Parensen, the rumor mill is spinning. Biereth, Böving, Kiteishvili, Geyrhofer, Wüthrich – they are all associated with foreign clubs. Gazibegovic (Cologne) and Yardımcı, who are brought back by Hoffenheim in the winter, are already gone. Is the master falling apart?
Michael Parsen: I noticed that too (laughs). Sturm has had a very successful year, so it is clear that many players will end up at other clubs somewhere after their strong performances. But my starting point is clear: we want to enter the spring round with the strongest possible team and we will not do anything that endangers our sporting success. We are also not in a situation where we need to sell as the club is doing well financially. That is why we approach every discussion with a certain force.
