Two Syrian family clans are waging a campaign of revenge through Graz: Three young prisoners are now under investigation for attempted murder, serious bodily harm and serious coercion. The men deny the crime and are in custody.
The case of the two Syrian family clans, which caused bloody scenes in several places in Graz around Christmas, caused a lot of commotion. As is known, a 20-year-old Syrian called on his relatives from refugee homes in Innsbruck and Vienna to travel to the capital of Styria to avenge his brother (17). This was put down by Syrian compatriots at the central station on December 23.
They attacked each other with iron bars, knives, wooden slats and a blank pistol. The two brothers surrounded an 18-year-old victim with a ‘helper’ (20) – all of whom had knives in their hands – and the 20-year-old then rammed the knife into his back.
They assaulted another opponent with an iron bar and a wooden slat, and forced two other victims at gunpoint to hand over their mobile phones. They then looked through the phone for clues about where other potential enemies might be.
As reported, the handcuffs clicked for all three. Two were arrested in Innsbruck and one in Graz. They were taken to the relevant prisons. And they will stay there temporarily. Because: “She was placed in pre-trial detention due to the risk of escape, concealment and the risk of committing a crime,” said Hansjörg Bacher, spokesperson for the Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office.
All three are being investigated for attempted murder, intentional grievous bodily harm and serious coercion. They deny the crimes and say they had nothing to do with them. Although they were close, they were not actively involved.
