In 2025, permits for new plantations will amount to a maximum of 15 hectares in Gipuzkoa and 10 in Bizkaia.
Permits for new txakoli vineyard plantations in Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia will be limited next year to 15 and 10 hectares respectively.
In addition, a total restriction will be applied to the replanting and conversion of the rights of these txakoli vineyards – something that has been done for several years –, according to a communication from the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
The ministry published the figures after receiving the decisions of the Supervisory Board of the PDO Getariako Txakolina in the case of Gipuzkoa and Bizkaiko Txakolina in the case of Bizkaia.
The Denominations make this decision with regard to new plantations after analyzing the market prospects and calculating the planting rights and permits granted that have not yet been exercised.
