Due to the enormous crowds at the Feuerkogel ski area near Ebensee (Upper Austria), drivers were redirected to another parking lot last weekend. But, what some people apparently didn’t know, this has been taxable since this year. There were heavy fines.
‘That is abysmal insolence! We were led to the parking lot and given a ticket that afternoon! Now we have to pay 70 euros,” said an angry Mühlviertler who went skiing on the Feuerkogel. Just like about 1,300 other winter sports enthusiasts.
Redirected to another parking lot
And because the parking spaces at the valley station quickly filled up, the cars of athletes arriving later were diverted to the Trauneck parking lot and taken to the cable car by shuttle buses. So far so good. But since this year, the Trauneck car park, which is also used for fairs and other activities, has become chargeable. Eight euros per day per car are payable.
“I thought that because we were sent there, we didn’t have to pay,” the 37-year-old from Freistadt argued to the “Krone”. And he wasn’t the only one. “We have already received about twenty questions,” confirms Ebensee Mayor Sabine Promberger, who immediately called those responsible for the cable car and parking management.
Notification of Fees
There were no parking fines for the time being on Sunday, but from now on motorists who are referred to the car park will be informed again about the rate – apart from the signs already there – to avoid further problems. “But the obligation to pay fees remains; this should also have a guiding effect, just like the amount of the fine,” says Promberger.
Pursue good will
In any case, to those who received a parking fine last Saturday, she promises that efforts will be made “to reach an amicable settlement” and “goodwill”, as apparently not all drivers were aware that they would also have to pay if they were referred here. . But now there are no more excuses.
