New Year’s Eve in Vienna – After firecracker explosions: injured people in the shock room

Several people were injured by the explosion of fireworks and rockets on New Year’s Eve in Vienna. Two partygoers even had to be taken to shock rooms. According to the Vienna Professional Rescue Service, other people with minor injuries had to be taken to clinics.

Around 2:30 p.m., Vienna’s professional rescue service was alerted to Donaustadt on New Year’s Eve after a rocket exploded near the hand of a 14-year-old. The teenager suffered serious injuries as a result of the explosion, including a partial amputation of a finger and burns to his hands and face. The boy received emergency medical care and was immediately taken to a shock room by the rescue team.

Vienna’s professional rescue service had to treat a second seriously injured person in the city center around 5 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Fireworks may have exploded in the hand of a 20-year-old. He suffered serious injuries to his hand, including crushes and burns. He also had to be taken to a trauma room.
