“That was a wake-up call” – The Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas was likely a suicide

Date:

Investigators have finally identified the American soldier responsible for the explosion of an electric pickup truck in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas and are considering his act a suicide.

Although the incident attracted more attention than usual, “it ultimately appears to be a tragic suicide by a decorated war veteran who was struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and other issues,” said FBI investigator Spencer Evans.

Matthew Livelsberger was 37 years old and a member of the elite Green Berets unit. He was deployed in Afghanistan, among other places. He spent most of his time at a base in Colorado and Germany, according to Sheriff Kevin McMahill. He returned to the United States as part of an approved leave of absence.

The injured have now been released from hospital
On Wednesday, he drove a Tesla cyber truck in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas and detonated it. He is said to have shot himself in the head before the explosion. He was burned beyond recognition in his car, making identification difficult at first. Several people were slightly injured in the explosion. According to the sheriff, they have since been released from the hospital.

Researcher: “Not a terrorist attack, it was a wake-up call”
There is still a lot of material that needs to be examined to fully explain the explosion, researchers said. The man had no criminal record and was not known to the police. At the press conference, investigators published excerpts from two of the man’s letters without commenting or explaining them further. It says the United States is headed for collapse under weak leadership. “This was not a terrorist attack, it was a wake-up call.”

Investigators reiterated that there was still no evidence of a link to the bomber who drove a vehicle into a crowd in New Orleans just hours before the truck exploded, killing 14 people. The researchers also see no connection between L. and a terrorist organization.

An act of desperation, probably to attract attention
The question remains open as to why Livelesberger exploded his car in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. However, the researchers made it clear that the 37-year-old had no hatred for former and future US President Donald Trump. Sheriff Kevin McMahill declined to comment further on the man’s political views.

McMahill said that if you read what Livelsberger wrote, it is clear that he was trying to get Americans’ attention because he was “dissatisfied about a number of different things.” He referred to several media reports about the man’s political views, but did not elaborate on their content.

The American media ‘The Daily Beast’ reported, citing a senior security official, that L. was a ‘big’ supporter of Trump and voted for him in November. The British ‘Independent’ also spoke to L.’s uncle, who said: ‘He loved his country 100 percent. (…) He loved Trump, and he was always a very, very patriotic soldier, a patriotic American.”
