Avanza bus staff are called to strike on January 5, 6 and 7

The lines affected are those covering the route between Debagoiena and Donostia-San Sebastián, and the airports of Donostia and Vitoria-Gasteiz, Bilbao and Loiu.

The staff of bus company Avanza voted in favor of making it strike on January 5, 6 and 7. Of the 162 workers, 89 voted in favor of the strike call from ELA, LAB and the Aurrera union. The strike starts on January 5 at 10 p.m. and will last until 12 a.m. on January 7.

The Avanza’s staff demands salary increasesReduction of working hours and renewal of the bus fleet. The works council assures that the situation has not improved after two years of negotiations and that, in the words of ELA union representative Cristobal Larrañaga, Avanza management does not even want a meeting with the unions at this time.

The committee expects that, if the managers’ attitude does not change, staff will strike again on January 18, 19 and 20.
