More and more reports of danger from the clinics in Vienna found their way to the public. This shouldn’t happen again. Because a service decision by the management of the Vienna Health Association is intended to dissuade employees from doing so.
Instead of coming up with solutions to get the problems in the hospitals under control, the General Directorate of the Vienna Health Association (WIGEV) has instructed all employees to point out that forwarding reports of danger may have legal consequences. According to WIGEV, which must be assessed precisely in each individual case.
Sweep grievances under the rug
The Vice-President of the Medical Association, Stefan Ferenci, sees this as a “gag order”. Councilor Peter Hacker sends his Praetorians out to force doctors and nurses to sweep grievances under the rug.
Last cry for help to the public
Hazard statements are only written when the safety of patients and staff can no longer be guaranteed. Going public is often the last cry for help after years of inactivity. From the point of view of the medical association and a legal advice, it is perfectly permissible to send reports to the professional representation.
The health association contradicts this, but also emphasizes that categorizing advertisements (such as in the Ottakring clinic) leads to consequences.
