Conditional detention for negligent bodily harm for a 19-year-old Upper Austrian. He was traveling at too high a speed from Vienna to Linz during a training trip. The accident then happened on the western motorway near Loosdorf.
At 173 km/h from Vienna to Linz – a young Upper Austrian was speeding on an L-17 training run on the western autobahn at the end of June last year. Mother was a driving instructor. When a truck drifted while overtaking, the driver’s license candidate near Loosdorf lost control of the vehicle. His mother was seriously injured in the accident. Now the previously convicted 19-year-old had to answer for negligent bodily harm at the regional court of St. Pölten.
On the road with his father’s new car
The 19-year-old proved right at the start of the trial that he was groundbreaking as a road user: the judge wanted to know why he had rushed. “With the new cars you no longer hear how fast you are going,” he explained. The father just bought a car that was way too fast and too expensive. “Don’t drive by ear, that’s what the speedometer is for,” Mrs Rat explained to him.
Judge gave him last chance
But all excuses did not help: the judge sentenced him to eight months in prison and a fine. “This is your last chance next time you go to jail,” she told him. He will probably be without a driver’s license.
