A 51-year-old worker died this Tuesday in Vitoria-Gasteiz after being run over by an excavator during construction work on the new football fields of the Baskonia-Alavés group academy.
The accident took place around 10:15 a.m. in the Portal de Zurbano region, Ertzaintza sources said.
The worker belonged to the staff of the Excavations Mendiola company. The employee was run over by an excavator on an esplanade during work on leveling the ground of the new International Academy football fields that are being constructed next to the Bakh sports complex.
Ertzaintza staff and health workers were taken to the scene of the incident and were only able to confirm the death of the worker.

The Baskonia-Alavés Group has expressed its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased employee.
