According to police, a severed human head discovered on Tuesday in a Bonn court was examined by the forensic medicine department on Wednesday morning. Police hope to have more information about the case after the autopsy, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday. The remaining body found about a kilometer away will also be autopsied. A 38-year-old suspect is still in custody, police said.
The dead man is believed to be a 44-year-old from a homeless environment. The Bonn Regional Court, in front of whose main portal the severed head was found, was open again on Wednesday. When the head was discovered early Tuesday evening, the downtown courthouse was already closed to the public.
Suspect described the location of the rest of the body
The 38-year-old suspect, who the police arrested in the immediate vicinity of the court on Tuesday, has so far been silent about the background, the spokesman said. However, he correctly described the body’s location near the banks of the Rhine to the researchers. The man is expected to appear in court on Wednesday. The police and the public prosecutor are investigating a suspected murder.
According to the police, the 38-year-old is mainly known in connection with drug crime. According to the first investigations, perpetrators and victims would come from the homeless scene. A possible crime instrument was not found until early in the morning.
Several passers-by had warned the police because a body part was at the entrance of the court. The identity of the victim is not yet 100% certain on Wednesday, police said.
