On New Year’s Day, a Rottweiler bit a seven-year-old girl in Kirchberg, forcing her to be hospitalized – exactly a month after the new dog ownership law came into effect, which was actually intended to prevent such attacks. At the moment, however, the amendment mainly raises many questions. The “Krone” asked around about their first experiences with the law.
Bites on the shoulder, upper arm and lower leg and then taken to hospital by emergency helicopter – as reported, Rottweiler “Ernie” attacked a girl (7) in Kirchberg ob der Donau on New Year’s Day. BH Rohrbach has now accepted the four-legged friend. “Because in the specific living situation it cannot be 100% guaranteed that the dog will not bite anyone,” explains district head Valentin Pühringer. Experts are investigating what else could happen to the four-legged friend. In cases of ‘particular danger’, the new law, which has been in force since December 1, provides for euthanasia – but that would be the extreme level.
