A 44-year-old man in the Götzis region (Vorarlberg) who wanted to save himself from a violent 38-year-old was seriously injured on Tuesday evening. The frightened man jumped from a balcony, missed a flying roof and fell seven meters into the depths.
Police operation in the Götzis region on Tuesday around 4:15 am: At this late hour, a 38-year-old man fell into a psychological emergency, as police reported. He threw objects around and threatened a 44-year-old who was also in the apartment in question at the time. He was apparently so scared that he tried to escape from the balcony.
Aggressive behavior
He wanted to jump onto a nearby flying roof, but missed and landed on the asphalt seven meters below. When police arrived on the scene, the 38-year-old was still standing on the balcony, throwing objects down and shouting loudly.
The 44-year-old was under the balcony and had serious injuries to both his head and his vertebrae. Officers removed the man from the danger zone and then took him to hospital.
Fire extinguisher sprayed
Meanwhile, the 38-year-old armed himself with a breakfast knife and changed locations several times. The man in the residential complex activated the fire alarm system and sprayed several fire extinguishers that were placed in the stairwell.
He eventually left the building, where he was arrested by police using pepper spray. After medical treatment, he was taken to Feldkirch prison on the orders of the public prosecutor.
