Date:

After allocating €272 million in 2024 to promote a competitive and sustainable industry, the Basque government has announced a new SME aid program for 2025, with an allocation of €500 million.

The Basque government has reaffirmed its commitment to the industrial fabric by announcing a new SME aid program for 2025, equipped with 500 million of euros. The Minister of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, Mikel Jauregi, announced that the program will be presented in February and will aim to consolidate a “more competitive, sustainable and job-generating” industry in the Basque Country.

The announcement comes after a positive balance of the 2024 industrial policy, the year in which the Basque government allocated the budget 272.3 million of euros through the SPRI Group. These grants benefited more than 4,100 companies and 68 agents of the Basque Network for Science, Technology and Innovation, allowing 745 million euros in private investments.

“For every public euro invested, 2.73 euros have been generated from the private sector, a clear example of the transformative effect of our policies,” Jauregi emphasizes. The programs covered strategic areas such as R&D&I (145 million), industrial promotion (55.4 million), digital transformation (18.6 million), internationalization (19.2 million), decarbonization (17.6 million), internationalization (19.2 million) and innovation (12.5 million). among others.

For example, the decarbonization program allowed 58 companies to reduce emissions and energy consumption, avoiding 1.45 million tons of CO2 over ten years.

In the field of digitalization, 1,629 companies have received support of 18.6 million, promoting private investment of 36 million. On the other hand, internationalization programs have supported 394 companies and 582 young people with 19.3 million euros, boosting their presence in foreign markets.

The new 2025 aid plan aims to continue this line of transformation, focusing on sustainability and innovation as drivers of industrial growth in the Basque Country.
