A Turkish articulated truck loaded with 22 tons of windows left the carriageway on a sharp left turn under the St. Rupert Mission House in Salzburg and came to a stop in an adjacent meadow. The vehicle’s diesel tank was leaking.
The Bischofshofen volunteer fire brigade had to leave with three vehicles and eleven emergency services. The truck was towed back onto the road with two cable winches together with a professional towing company.
The fuel tank in the vehicle involved in the accident had to be handled with particular care. It had been cut at the top in the accident. About 500 liters of diesel fuel had to be pumped into barrels using a diaphragm pump.
Environmental damage could be prevented.
