This increase, which takes effect retroactively from January 1 last year, will therefore be added to the 2% increase from last summer.
160,000 civil servants in the Basque Country will benefit from the additional salary increase of 0.5% agreed by the Government of Spain and the CCOO and UGT trade unions for the period 2022-2024, retroactively from January 1 last year.
The agreement set a 2% increase for 2024, plus an additional 0.5% if the accumulated variation in the harmonized CPI (14.6% between 2022 and 2024) exceeded the fixed remuneration increase for that period (8%).
If this 0.5% is added to the 2% increase in government employee salaries in 2024, the total remuneration increase for that year amounts to 2.5%.
Sources from the Basque government explained this to EITB They hope to make the payment in the March payrollonce all legal procedures have been completed, as this must first go through the Council of Ministers and then through the Executive Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
