A British man was stopped in the Greater Manchester area with a prohibited and quite conspicuous vehicle. The man was with a Tesla Cybertruck – now he’s gotten rid of the car.
The vehicle, which is not registered for road use in Britain or the EU, is owned by the Briton, registered and insured abroad, the director said on Facebook. The driver was ticketed and the car was seized.
Police point to “legitimate security problems”
“While this may seem trivial to some, there are legitimate safety concerns for other road users or pedestrians if they are involved in a collision with the Cybertruck,” the director said in the post.
Too massive for European roads
The safety concerns are due to the unusual and massive construction of the pickup-like vehicle. Unlike normal cars, it has an “ultra-hard stainless steel outer shell” instead of a deformable body. The authorities in Europe are also affected by the rough edges. With a length of 5.7 meters, a height of 1.80 meters and a weight of over three tons, it is also a colossus.
In the Czech Republic, an entrepreneur managed to register a Cybertruck – an isolated case:
Tesla boss Elon Musk explained that the car was developed to specifications in the US. He did not want to meet international requirements because they would ‘frankly have made the product worse’. Some importers are still trying to bring Cybertrucks to Europe. In the Czech Republic, an entrepreneur even managed to obtain an individual permit. He covered the sharp edges of the body with rubber bands.
