The Pope will appoint a woman as governor of Vatican City for the first time. Sister Raffaella Petrini has been Vice Governor since 2021 and a member of the Curia Authority for Bishops since 2022.
Petrini has a say in the appointment of bishops in other countries. In October, Pope Francis also appointed the 55-year-old nun to the Apostolic See’s property management team, where all of the Vatican’s financial decisions are made.
In March, the Italian and social scientist will become governor of the Vatican, as Francis has announced. She is the first woman in history.
Pope took part in talk show
The 88-year-old pope attended the Italian talk show ‘Che tempo che fa’ (roughly: ‘As the times are’) on Sunday evening from his apartment in the Vatican guesthouse Santa Marta. For about 45 minutes, he responded to questions on political and religious topics.
As reported, Francis fell a few days ago. He now appeared to be in good physical and mental condition. A year ago he had already participated in the popular show of presenter Fabio Fazio.
