A mild but clearly noticeable earthquake occurred in the Tyrolean lowlands on Monday morning. The epicenter was located east of Wattens in the municipality of Terfens (Schwaz district) and had a magnitude of 1.9.
According to the Austrian seismological service GeoSphere Austria, a “clear shock” was felt around 9:12 a.m. and “thunder and rumbling from underground” were also heard. However, damage to buildings is not expected at this level.
