After the fatal fall of a teacher in a school in Leoben, the Public Prosecution Service closed the investigation after almost a year. There were no indications of foul play.
The fatal fall of a teacher at the Pestalozzi school center in Leoben in Styria in early 2024, exaggerated by some media, set the rumor mill in motion. And this despite the fact that the police have repeatedly asked them to take into account the already difficult situation of the family and not to spread suspicions.
The investigation lasted painstakingly for almost a year and the Leoben public prosecutor’s office left nothing to chance. There was, among other things, a toxicology report available that showed no significant abnormalities. Ultimately, even the digital forensic experts from the Federal Criminal Police Office in Vienna were unable to carry out the ordered evaluation of the teacher’s mobile phone, which was massively destroyed in the fall.
Negligence by third parties cannot be ruled out in the first instance
All this happened because negligence on the part of third parties could not be excluded with the necessary certainty. “There was no corresponding evidence,” said Andreas Riedler, spokesman for the Leoben Public Prosecution Service. The investigation has now been completed and the procedure has been discontinued. “There was absolutely no evidence of foul play,” Riedler said.
