The Lehendakari announced these measures during the first plenary session of the Euskadi Urban Planning and Housing Forum, held at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao.

The lehendakari Imanol Pradales announced this Wednesday that the Basque government will sign an agreement in the coming weeks with the Association of Basque Municipalities EUDEL for the construction of a large reserve of public land in Euskadi. Likewise, he has announced that the two youth guarantee lines will be available in June next year.

Pradales announced these measures during the first plenary session of the Forum for Urban Planning and Housing of Euskadi held at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao, attended, among others, by the Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Denis Itxaso.

During his speech, the Lehendakari announced that the Basque government will sign an agreement with EUDEL in the coming weeks to also involve municipal authorities in the search for a joint solution in the field of housing. The agreement includes the establishment of a large reserve of public land in Euskadimobilizing qualified public land for the construction of subsidized housing or promoting the segregation of old apartments with a lot of surface area.

Similarly, Pradales has announced that next June the two guarantee lines aimed at young people who are committed to the government program, so that they can firstly finance their loan and secondly pay the rental deposit. “We know that the measures we are presenting today will not be enough. But we are also clear that they will be part of the solution,” the Lehendakari emphasized.

It has recognized that access to decent and adequate housing is an important factor “political priority” for the Basque Government: “The housing problem cannot be solved with magical solutions. They do not exist. But as the Basque Government, we are going to take all the necessary steps to create new opportunities for access to housing in the Basque Country.”

For his part, the advisor Denis Itxaso He emphasized that “changes are needed and this government has come to listen and make the necessary changes. This is our promise.” Regarding the Urban Planning and Housing Forum, he pointed out that “it is an essential tool to get the reforms that need to be implemented right and to reach consensus to move towards a housing model that guarantees access to housing as a fundamental right and not as a privilege. .”.

Itxaso has also highlighted the diverse nature of the forum, which will include 51 representative members of institutional, social and professional entities (4 corresponding to the Ministry of Housing, 3 to other departments and entities of the Basque Government, 12 to local entities, 15 to entities and 17 to entities in the housing professional field). In this sense, “solutions must be built by listening to all voices, from the most vulnerable to those with the capacity for transformation in the market,” Itxaso said.
