Bright neon signs on the construction cranes in the Neusiedlerviertel in Mödling cause sleepless nights for residents. More will be installed soon. The building authority in Mödling is trying to find a solution.
Noise on the construction site from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., street noise due to increasing truck traffic, poor parking situation – the residents around the construction site in the Neusiedlerviertel in Mödling have become accustomed to a lot in recent months. And they were also understanding.
What they are especially angry about now are the recently installed construction cranes. “Their advertising lighting shines into our living rooms and bedrooms all night long,” complains Joachim K.: “Amplified by the currently prevailing fog, the immediate area is flooded with this light.” And: “Safety is a must and I know that it is necessary for flight safety to install glare-free red lights on the crane.” K. also knows that two more cranes will be added soon and fears even more nighttime light in his neighborhood. Many of his neighbors also feel that their night’s sleep is being disturbed.
The building authority is doing everything it can to find a solution
The responsible building authority in Mödling is trying to resolve the matter as quickly as possible. “We have already forwarded the concern to the construction management,” explains deputy construction director Roland Gproteinsch. “We have asked for a time limit for the illuminated company name on the crane.” And the company has assured that the crane lighting issue will be addressed when the second crane is erected next week.
