Major fire brigade operations Wednesday evening: A fire broke out in a sports hotel in Nassfeld. 390 guests had to flee outside and were taken to alternative accommodation by the emergency services. The fire was quickly brought under control.
It’s Wednesday evening, 11:15 p.m.: the sirens are blaring at Nassfeld. A few moments earlier, a sauna in the basement of a youth sports hotel caught fire. The fire was immediately noticed by the 71-year-old hotel operator through his own fire alarm system, which immediately set off the house alarm. “The hotel operator and two of his guests immediately started an initial firefighting attack with a hand fire extinguisher,” said Hermagor District Fire Command.
Guests must be evacuated
The fire brigade is also immediately informed. Meanwhile, all guests and employees also left the house. The 390 people were accommodated in coaches and in a sports hall during the fire brigade operation. “Five people were taken to the LKH Villach due to health complaints for further examination by the Red Cross on site,” the Carinthian State Police Directorate said.
The fire brigades of Tröpolach, Rattendorf, Watschig, Mitschig, Hermagor and Waidegg were able to quickly extinguish the fire in the cellar. After more than two hours, the evacuated people were able to return to their rooms.
