Kidnapped women – These four Hamas hostages have now been released

Date:

The Islamist Hamas released four hostages on Saturday. These are four young female scouts from the Israeli army. They were kidnapped during the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023.

Disturbing images showed the injured young women, some of whom were covered in blood. The Israeli women who were army scouts in the Gaza Strip border area seemed completely scared. The kidnappers repeatedly shouted at the bound women and threatened them. Fifteen female scouts were killed and seven kidnapped in the attack. One female scout was rescued from the Gaza Strip after 23 days, while another was killed in captivity. Another woman not on the list remains in the hands of Hamas for the time being.

Salt water, little food
Four female scouts were released this Saturday. Their names are Liri Albag, Karina Ariev, Naama Levy and Daniella Gilboa. Liri Albag is 19 years old and has just started as a scout. According to a released hostage, Albag was held in a tunnel and forced to do housework. She was given salt water to drink and little to eat. She was not allowed to shower until a month after her kidnapping.

Karina Ariev is 20 years old. She sent a message to her sister from the base, asking her to take care of her parents and be strong if she did not survive the Hamas attack. Her parents told Israeli media they feared their daughter would be raped and become pregnant while held hostage.

An idle warning to superiors
Naama Levy is also 20 years old. Their observer force warned superiors of suspicious activity to no avail. Footage from the day of her kidnapping shows her with her hands tied and her pants covered in blood, raising fears of sexual violence. As a teenager, Levy volunteered for an Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative.

Daniella Gilboa appeared in several videos promoting Hamas. The 20-year-old said in one of them that she was terribly afraid for her life. She told her family she missed them. The young woman plays the piano and, according to Israeli media, wants to become a singer.

Come to the hospital
The four young women would receive initial medical care and personal support at shelters. The plan is to then take them to hospitals where they will be reunited with their families. “We are all very excited,” said Sharon Nakash, logistics commander.
