Mayor Günther Kröpfl of Pölla (Lower Austria) reports 106 complaints filed against the municipality or him since 2015. But now the public prosecutor wants to see him in the dock.
The timing could not have been more explosive: just in the week in which the municipal elections take place on Sunday, the Public Prosecution Service concluded its investigation against Günther Kröpfl, mayor of the municipality of Pölla in the Zwettl district.
The court and public prosecutor confirm this
On Friday, the Krems Regional Court confirmed the indictment against a local boss in Sprengel, which was received on January 23. Over the course of the day, the evidence about Kröpfl continued to build until prosecutor Franz Hütter confirmed the charges for “a construction case.” There was no further information yesterday about the (non-legally binding) indictment.
The mayor initially did not believe the request
Local boss Kröpfl, who is subject to the presumption of innocence, initially did not believe the ‘Krone’ request: ‘Since 2020, I or the community have been reported more than 40 times. There have been 106 advertisements since 2015! “It all came to nothing,” the mayor emphasizes the lively advertising culture in the municipality – especially “from the blue corner” or from quarreling neighbors.
Political dirt buckets?
He is shocked when he hears from the ‘Crown’ about the charges. He is currently not even aware of any pending proceedings against him. Kröpfl again suspects a political dirtbag campaign. He looks forward to implementing many projects that improve the quality of life in the community. “It’s really no fun anymore with these kinds of tours just before the elections,” he emphasizes, hoping that voters “will classify the events correctly.”
