After earthquake, schools are closed and kissed in Santorini

The Greek holiday island of Santorini has been shaken by a series of generation. The authorities have therefore decided to close the schools on Monday. Moreover, the residents of the residents were not called to stop coastal sections for which there is a risk of landslide.

Earthquake on the seabed
According to the seismological institute of the North Greek port city of Thessaloniki, most earthquakes occur under the seabed between the islands of Santorini and Amorgos.

The strength of the earthquake fluctuated between 3 and 4.5 trend. Therefore, not all is clear: “With increasing size, the risk of earthquakes is also increasing,” said seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos.

Heavy earthquake in the past
Around Santorini, next to a spectacular crater of the volcano of this island, there are other volcanoes under the surface of the sea, as well as some tectonic plates that can cause strong earthquakes through their movements.

In 1956 there had been countless fatalities and serious damage in the region for earthquakes in force 7, 7 and 7.2 and subsequent tsunamis.
