In Deutschlandsberg (Styria) a school bus was rolling shortly after noon and collapsed in a tree. Three children were on the bus. The steering wheel was injured.
The accident took place on a farm in Wildbach, a district of the municipality of Deutschlandsberg. According to information from the Red Cross, there were three children in the school bus on Tuesday around noon when he was rolling and crashing into a tree.
“The bus driver just helped children out when he suddenly noticed that the bus is rolling,” says Hans Jürgen Ferlitsch from the Fire Brigade Deutschlandsberg. “At the last minute he jumped on the bus and tried to stop the handbrake.”
Children unharmed
The bus rolled about 30, 35 meters until it got stuck in a tree. “Fortunately that was really at the last minute,” says Ferlitsch. Because it is currently going downhill a few meters.
The three children were not injured. The steering wheel, a 50-year-old man, could of course no longer hold, he was brought to LKH Deutschlandsberg with minor injuries.
Large contingent of emergency services
Because of the unclear situation – the emergency call was mentioned in the emergency report and smoke – two rescue skills, an emergency doctor, a command vehicle and even two rescue helicopters were ordered to Wildbach. The Fire Brigades Bad Gams, Deutschlandsberg, Frauental, Stainz and Wildbach were on site with 65 emergency services and 14 vehicles. The damaged minibus was found by the firefighters and parked on the ownership of the farm.
