Outdated Weapons – Inaccurate Russian Missiles Cause Civilian Casualties

Date:

Since the start of the war on February 24, Britain has published daily assessments of the current course of the war in Ukraine. Russia’s supply of modern weapons now appears to be declining as Russia is now relying more and more on imprecise missiles, according to the British Ministry of Defense. This has resulted in civilian casualties among the Ukrainian population.

According to the British Ministry of Defense, Russia is now using increasingly outdated, inaccurate missiles. The reason for this is probably a lack of stock of accurate and modern weapons. Analyzed surveillance footage showed that the shopping center in Kremenchuk was likely hit by a Ch-32 missile on June 27, 2022. Although this is a further development of the Soviet missile Ch-22, which is still not suitable for hitting ground targets in urban areas.

In southwestern Ukraine, the said Ch-22 missiles were believed to have been used in attacks on Odessa. “These weapons are even less accurate and unsuitable for targeted attacks and have almost certainly resulted in repeated civilian casualties in recent weeks,” the British Ministry of Defense said.

The ministry also reported further minor successes on the Russian side in capturing land around the eastern Ukrainian city of Lyssychansk. However, the advance in the southeastern suburbs of the city has so far been blocked by Ukrainian forces.
