A cattle bus of the Croatian coast ten months ago – the incident still has the authorities of the Mediterranean Sea today. The owner has given up the ship. The wreck is now increasingly becoming an ecological threat.
On April 16, 2024, the Veetransporterdeala, built in 1976, came in a heavy storm. The cargo ship eventually ran near the port of Raša in the Istria region. Fortunately, all 15 crew members survived the incident unharmed.
But there was a lot of damage to the ship: it was left and the engine room was flooded. The Croatian Ministry of the Sea Fahrt assumed that the ship would be found within a month.
The stranded ship:
Croatia must ensure the recovery of the ship
But the owner is no longer interested in the vehicle that is still on the rock – only one oil lock was interpreted to protect the surrounding nature reserve against the dangers that the wreck starts. The Croatian taxpayer will probably have to pay for the costs of removing the cargo ship.
In the case of residents and local politicians, concern about long -term ecological and economic damage caused by the pollution by the ship. After all, the bay is important for the economy. “We are fighting for this ship to finally be removed and our sea, our surroundings and our tourism have been preserved,” said the mayors of the cities of Marcana and Barba.
Neven Iivesa, a professor at a nearby university, told the local media that the best option would be to disassemble and do the ship on the spot. The attempt to clap the ship again so that it can be dragged can cause even greater damage. Moreover, that would be very expensive: three million euros
