Tragic traffic accident in Scheifling (Murau district) on Saturday evening. A van and a minibus collided, leaving 12 people injured, three of them seriously. Among the three, three children suffered minor injuries. The majority of those affected are Ukrainian citizens.
The tragic accident happened around 3 a.m. on the B317 in Scheifling municipality. A van from Vienna with two Turks (23 and 57) and a minibus with a Ukrainian registration number, which was carrying nine Ukrainians (including three children aged two, eight and ten) and a Bulgarian, have collided head on, which are still unknown.
Rescue helicopter had to dodge
All twelve people on board were injured in the accident, the two Turks and a woman in the minibus seriously. Particularly dramatic: the rescue helicopter was unable to land directly at the accident site due to the dense fog, but had to divert to Unzmarkt. A Ukrainian woman was so badly injured that she had to be flown to the University Hospital in Graz. The other eleven injured were scattered across four hospitals.
An alcohol test on the 39-year-old driver of the minibus was negative. There is no result yet from the 23-year-old driver due to the severity of the injuries. During the rescue and clean-up operations, the B317 had to be completely shut down for several hours.
