When the American Monica Kennedy booked a trip to the Italian Amalfi coast in 2017, she hoped to save her troubled marriage. But instead of reconciliation, an unexpected encounter awaited her who should change her life forever.
Monica lived in a beautiful house in Connecticut, worked as a lawyer at the Yale Law School and had two adult children. Her life seemed perfectly on the outside, but her marriage, which lasted for more than twenty years, had been staggered, as CNN Travel reported. “We had developed in different directions,” Monica recalls. Italy should be a last chance to save the relationship.
Go on an exclusive tour twisted
On the coast of Amalfi she met Isidoro Langella, a charming guide from Naples. He organized exclusive tours for demanding travelers and brought them closer to the culture, history and culinary pleasures of his home country. Monica immediately found him sympathetic, but at that moment she still traveled with her husband. On the other hand, Isidoro only saw a “strange energy” between the spouses on this day.
Unexpected reunion
A year later, after her divorce, Monica turned to Isidoro again. A friend wanted to send her daughter on a trip to the coast of Amalfi and Monica recommended Isidoro as a guide. But the plans made it and Monica apologized in detail. A lively exchange came from this first contact. They discussed films, literature and life. “I never thought we had so much together,” said Monica.
The online conversations became increasingly intense until Monica decided to fly to Italy, despite the skepticism of her family to see Isidoro personally.
Long -distance relationship applied to a hard test
When the two met at the airport, the situation was initially surreal. But after a few minutes they felt just as familiar as in their many conversations. They spent a week full of unforgettable moments on the coast and decided to give their relationship a real chance.
Monica continued to visit Isidoro in Italy until he finally visited her in the US and met her children. Pandemie brought the long -distance relationship with a hard test because they could not see each other for almost 300 days. But when the chance finally arose, Monica flew back to Italy. “We knew we wanted to spend our lives together,” she says.
“It’s incredible how life can develop”
In 2021 they married in an intimate ceremony on the coast of Sorrento, CNN trips continued. Shortly thereafter they decided to move their life center to Italy. They focused the travel company “To Amalfi with love tours through Italy” and bought a house in the idyllic village of Castiglione del Lago in Umbria.
“It is incredible how life can develop,” reflects Monica. “I never thought that such a wonderful second chance could result from a failed marriage.” Isidoro also sees her life together as a gift: “We are both Dreamers, and perhaps the world is the Dreamers.”
Today they lead a happy life in Italy and help others experience their own dream trip. And Monica is sure: “You should never stop looking for happiness. Because sometimes a single meeting leads to a new, unexpected chapter in life.
