Together with their children – former supporters is back in Austria

In a return campaign, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vienna brought two former supporters together with their children back to Austria on Saturday.

On behalf of the judiciary, “the inhabitant of Salzburg, Maria G. and her two minor sons and another Austrian citizen had to return to Austria with her minor son,” the authority confirmed on Sunday.

With line machine from Iraq
According to the report, the second Austrian was the Viennese Evelne T. The women and her children are said to have flown to Vienna in a line machine from Iraq. Both women with their children were recently in the Camp Roj internment camp in Syria.

According to its own statements, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been offering the small sons of Maria G. since 2019. Maria G. always refused. Eventually, on October 10, 2024, the federal administrative court ordered the return of Maria G. and her two boys.

“High security risks”
In his communication, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that such an obligation “was always associated with high safety risks for the team and also for those who are being restored”. The volatile security situation in the area was “returning and the return considerably delayed.”

No more Austrians in Syria
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the judicial authorities are now on the train. “The costs of the admission will be calculated by the women recruited,” said it. “According to the current state of knowledge, there are no Austrian citizens in Kampen in Syria anymore.”
