According to a series of arson in Bavaria, the police and attorney general in Munich investigated two suspects. These are in custody – but because of a different statement, namely the creation of a criminal association. The researchers suspect an extremist motif behind the fires. Also look for two objects in Salzburg.
“It is determined in all directions,” said a spokesperson for the attorney general. The series of arson took a few years. Radio masts, train systems, infrastructure of wind energy and geothermal energy and various vehicles were damaged. In January, more than 20 police cars burned in Munich. In August 2023, the “RHAET” research group was founded at the police station of the Bavarian Capital, namely clarifying the cases.
Searches in Bavaria and Austria
The researchers now see indications that individual deeds are based on an extremist motive. Among them are arson and other crimes in upper Bavaria. Last week in Munich, in the Munich district, the districts of Fürstenfeldbruck and Ebersberg, as well as in the area of the city of Salzburg and in the Salzburger Pongau, were sought in a total of eight apartments and objects.
Mobile phones, computer systems and electronic storage media were seized, among other things. Two suspects were arrested. The initial suspicion of participation in some of the actions, as the researchers said, exists against them.
At the same time, the two are already being investigated because of the establishment of a criminal association. That is why there have already been guardianship commands against them who have now been performed. The two suspects currently do not have a permanent stay, as the researchers have carried out. All other suspects are currently free.
